Today I meditated on these verses,"One thing God has spoken, two things have I heard: that You, O God, are strong, and that you, O Lord, are loving” (Psalm 62:11-12). Truly, there are so many verses on the love of God. I am truly overwhelmed. In His Word, God describes Himself as a “compassionate and gracious God, slow to anger, abounding in love and faithfulness” (Ps. 86:15). John, inspired by the Holy Spirit, says “God is love. This is how God showed His love among us: He sent His one and only Son into the world that we might live through Him. This is love: not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins” (1 Jn. 4:8b-10). And Paul resonates this, “But God demonstrates His own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us” (Rom. 5:8). I hear the Lord whisper to me this morning, "I have loved you with an everlasting love; I have drawn you with loving-kindness” (Jer. 31:3).
Wow. I am overwhelmed by God’s love. A love that is strong, a love that is steadfast, patient, faithful, and unfailing, a love that endures forever, a love that pursues me even in the depths of my sin, a love that is “better than life itself” (Ps.63:3), and a love ultimately demonstrated in Jesus Christ Himself - God made flesh, Love made flesh.
What a comfort and joy to be in the hands of an all-powerful, all-loving God, today. What peace to be IN CHRIST, and therefore, IN the love of God, forever.
Today, I will “Give thanks to the LORD, for He is good; His LOVE endures forever” (Ps. 118:29).
